A cloisonné enamel craneQianlong/JiaqingStanding proudly with head held high and slightly turned to the right, the beak slightly opened and the beady eyes set under the red-capped crown, the wings realistically rendered in blue, green and purplish enamel, the legs gilt, fixed wood stand. 69cm (27 1/8in) high (3).注脚The crane is a Daoist symbol of longevity, and is frequently depicted either with Shoulao, the God of Longevity, or the Queen Mother of the West. Cloisonné enamel cranes were often placed in pairs flanking thrones in the imperial palaces.The pair to the present lot was sold in our New Bond Street salerooms, 17 May 2012, lot 140.
