A wucai 'floral spray' dish17th centuryEnamelled to the well with floral sprays surrounded with a ruyi-head border, the interior mouth rim with a foliate scrolling meander, all reserved against a variety of diaper patterns, the base with a typical channelled foot rim. 33cm (13in) diam.注脚The present lot belongs a group of distinctive wares that are frequently found in Indonesia and therefore seem to have been produced primarily for a South-East Asian market. It is not clear whether they were produced in Jingdezhen or in other Southern Chinese sites such as the Zhangzhou kilns. For an example of this ware see C.A. Jorg,Chinese Ceramics in the Collection of the Rijksmuseum, London 1997, p. 153, no. 163.
