WEI ZHIKE (WEI HESHU, Active, 1609-1627), ink and colour on paper, album of landscapes, twelve leaves, inscribed variously Heshu, Wei, or Wei Zhike, collectors' seals for Danyuan, dated to the autumn of 1630, during the reign of Emperor Chongzhen, each leaf 23cm x 15.5cm, and opposing a leaf of gold fleck paper, the album arranged in accordian fold, with huanghuali boards, in woven protective pouch.Leaf 1: Inscription 'In the year gengwu of the Chongzhen reign (1630), during autumn in the 9th lunar month, and album of twelve leaves imitating the ancients, for Mr Zhao Zongnian, [signed] Wei Zhike. Red seal lower left, HeshuNotes: Whilst few of his works survive, Wei Zhike (Heshu) was considered an important professional artist of the 17th century.
