题识：脚跟线断水云余，眼界尘清天地阔。郭尚先。||钤印：臣尚先 |说明：郭尚先，字符开，号兰石，福建莆田人。嘉庆十四年（1809年）进士，历任乡试考官、国史馆纂修、文渊阁校理、四川学政、左赞善、光禄寺卿。道光十二年（1832）诏授大理寺卿、礼部右侍郎，专司学政吏考之事。工书法，善绘画，山水之外，尤擅兰石；其篆刻则古朴浑厚，法度精严，被誉为“深入汉人之室”。他著述亦丰，著有《芳坚馆印存》、《经筵讲义》等。
