Height: 21 1/8" Diameter: 15 1/2" Stand Height: 3 1/4" Diameter: 9 1/2" Chinese Qing Dynasty porcelain Zun vase, Sturdily potted in a baluster body, with globular belly tapered gracefully toward the round shoulder leading to the waisted prominent neck supported the flaring rim, and raised upon splayed concave foot base. Two scrolling clouds motif handles emerged on the collar suspending a ring. The exterior decorated in hand painting detail with variegate tones and shades of underglaze blue depicted cranes borne amidst scrolling clouds and BaJiXiang, The Eight Buddhist Emblems, in various pursuits against clean white ground. The rim, shoulder, and foot banded with auspicious motif ribbon and repeating ruyi pattern. The Zun vase elegantly displayed upon elaborate open-works carved hardwood stand in conforming motif. Qianlong six characters reign mark in underglaze blue, Qing Dynasty.PROVENANCE: Private collections of John Platts (1905-1985), second son Geoffrey Platts, of Glen Cove, Long Island, NY.Glen Cove New York is on the North Shore of Long Island and was the summer resort of the rich and famous.
