|定窑在宋代以出产高品质白瓷闻名于世，此件皮囊壶即出自定窑，其形取自北方游牧民族的皮囊壶。仿皮囊壶器物，盛唐的金银器中已有，但后多发现于契丹人的墓葬或窖藏之中，因此被认为是辽代最为典型的造型之一。此壶釉面光洁，釉色呈现象牙质感，莹白如雪。整壶器形规整，古朴大方。
