A carved marble statue of a standing female with elaborate braided hair, multi-strand collar or necklace, hatched upper section to the robe with transverse bands to the sleeves and girdle, flared body; headband with panel to the reverse and long band extending to the lower body; arms before the body supporting a gourd; shallow sockets to the eyes and rear of the head to accept decorative inserts. 381 grams, 17cm (6 3/4"). Property of a London gentleman; acquired before 1970. Fine condition; repaired.
