Late 3rd-2nd millennium BC. A mixed group of five bronze seals including two accompanied by typed and signed notes by the late W.G. Lambert, Professor of Assyriology at the University of Birmingham, 1970-1993, which states: T-171) 'A Stamp Seal of Bronze, 52 x 53 x 17 mm. This is round, with flat face and flat back, on which is mounted a handle of inverted U-shape. The design is a pattern both compartmented and open-work. It consists of a central square divided into nine small squares, and around this a band of eight them reaching the outer edge, with a straight line between both sets of points creating tree-like motifs around the outer edge. This comes from west central Asia and dates to c. 2300-2000 B.C. It is a fine example of its kind, and in very good condition save that the divisions between some of the central squares have been lost.'; V-18) 'A Stamp Seal of Bronze, 61 x 61 x 20 mm. This is round, with flat face and flat back on which an angular handle for suspension is mounted. The design, which is both compartmented and open-work, consists of a scorpion within an outer band with scalloped outer rim. This comes from west central Asia and dates to c. 2300-2000 B.C. It is in good condition except that there is much incrustation on the surface, which could be removed. There is slight damage to the rim.' 267 grams total, 54-62mm (2 - 2 1/2").
