A carved schist frieze fragment depicting nimbate Buddha standing with right hand raised in reassurance, smaller bearded ascetic monk with arms held to the right shoulder; mounted on a custom-made stand, 7.7 kg, 37cm including stand (14 1/2"). Property of a London Gandharan art collector, acquired in the late 1990s; formerly with various UK sources acquired by them since the 1960s. Fine condition.
