Late 3rd-2nd millennium BC. A mixed group of ten bronze seals including nine accompanied by typed and signed notes by the late W.G. Lambert, Professor of Assyriology at the University of Birmingham, 1970-1993, which states: (V-806) 'A Stamp Seal of Bronze, 33 x 24 x 34 mm. This bears the shape of the design, with flat face and flat back, on which is mounted a stalk handle with suspension loop on top. The design, which is compartmented, shows a heraldic eagle, with head sideway at the top, wings spread beneath, and tail feathers at the bottom. This comes from west central Asia and dates to c. 2200-1800 B.C. There is incrustation on the surface, which could be removed, and the edges of the eagle are a little worn, but generally it remains in good condition and an interesting piece.'; (V-814) 'A Stamp Seal of Bronze, 20 x 21 x 10 mm. This is a square plaque, with flat face and back, on which a loop handle is mounted. The design on the face consists of a simple cross dividing the surface into four squares, and in each square there is a circle. This comes from west central Asia and dates to c. 2300-2000 B.C. The object is a little worn and heavily incrusted, but the design is clear and interesting.'; (U-277) 'A Stamp Seal of Bronze, 27 x 25 x 12.5 mm. This bears the shape of the design, with flat compartmented face and flat back, on which is mounted a loop handle. The design appears to show a two-headed eagle, with heads at the top, wings spread beneath, and talons and tali feathers below. This comes from west central Asia and dates to c. 2300-2000 B.C. There is some wear and damage to the piece( the handle is also broken) , and there is some corrosion of the metal, which could be treated. The two-headed eagle is a rarity.'; (P-59) 'A Stamp Seal of Bronze, 37 x 35 x 11 mm. This is round, with flat face and flat back, on which a handle of inverted U-shape is mounted. The design is both compartmented and open-work. It consists of an outer band and an inner Greek cross. The two are joined by crescent-shaped lines resting on the four ends of the cross and reaching the outer band. This comes from west central Asia and dates to c. 2300-2000 B.C. It is covered with heavy incrustation, which could be removed. It appears that the metal under neath is in good condition.'; (P-61) 'A Stamp Seal of Bronze, 30 x 29 x 16 mm. This has a flat face, and irregular back, on which is mounted a pierced stalk handle. The object is shaped like a rosette, which is the design on the face, with eight petals. The object was cast and the design was then either engraved or sharpened by engraving. This seal comes from west central Asia and dates to c. 2000-1800 B.C. It is in very good condition.'; (T-560) 'A Stamp Seal of Bronze, 27 x 34 x 19 mm. This bears the shape of what is depicted, with flat face and flat back, on which is mounted a handle of inverted V-shape. The design shows a standing quadruped with head a little down. Originally there was something extra on its back, but that is now missing. This comes from west central Asia and dates to c. 2300-2000 B.C. It has an interesting design but is now incomplete and covered with incrustation.'; (T-828) 'A Stamp Seal of Bronze, 29 x 30 x 11 mm. This is roughly round, with flat face and flat back, on which is mounted a loop handle. The design on the face consists of a cross, half way between a Greek cross and a formee cross within an outer rim. This comes from west central Asia and dates to c. 2300-2000 B.C. There is incrustation on the piece, especially on the back, which could be removed. The handle is worn in part, otherwise the seal is in good condition.'; (T-496) 'A Stamp Seal of Bronze, 18 x 33 x 31 mm. This has a roughly oval flat face and flat back on which is mounted a tall stalk ending in a pierced loop (now damaged"). The design on the face is linear and consists of a pattern of curving strokes. This comes from west central Asia and dates to c. 2200-1800 B.C. It is lacking the outer rim due to wear, and perhaps more, but though there is incrustation on the surface, which could be removed, the metal is in good condition.'; (T-506) 'A Stamp Seal of Bronze, 25 x 25 x 11 mm. This has the shape of a formee cross with a circle in the middle. The face is flat with compartmented design. The back is also flat with loop handle of metal stip. This comes from west central Asia and dates to c. 2300-2000 B.C. There is incrustation on the surface which could be removed. Generally the piece is in good condition.' 132 grams total, 28.5-39mm (3/4 - 1 1/2").
