A bronze brooch fragment formed as an openwork plaque and recurved pin to the reverse; plaque comprising a base of ropework with rosettes and flowers above, dove supporting a lion on one side and monkeys supporting an eagle on the other, surmounted by a facing eagle with sheet bronze wings; row of loops to the lower edge for attachment. 50 grams, 15cm (6"). From the private collection of a North West London lady; previously with a central London gallery; formerly acquired before 1990. Fine condition.
