2nd century BC-1st century AD. A bronze finial formed as a lupine or canine head with pricked ears, socket to the rear, muzzle pierced laterally and to the forward face for attachment of a cord or thong. See Rolland, H. Bronzes Antiques de Haute Provence, Paris, 1965 for discussion. 18 grams, 33mm (1 1/4"). Found near Louth, Lincolnshire, in 1987. Fine condition.
