1st-2nd century AD. A bronze figure comprising: a narrow horse advancing with one foreleg raised, incised lines for the bridle, notched edges to the tail and mane; a rider with legs spread, right arm raised and left arm extended forward, punched pellets to the rear of the shoulders. See Rolland, H. Bronzes Antiques de Haute Provence, Paris, 1965, item 107 for type. 32 grams total, rider: 44mm (1 3/4"). From the collection of a European gentleman living in South London; acquired 1970-1980. [2] Fair condition, cleaned and conserved.
