Translation provided by Youdao
Late 5th-7th century AD. A silver-gilt plate brooch formed as a rectangular headplate and trapezoidal footplate, applied panels with repoussé scrolls, punched detailing and hollow-formed lateral knops, ropework borders and applied bows with coiled loops; large sprung pin to the reverse and catchplate with applied decorative strip borders; provincial workmanship. See Heynowski, R. Bestimmungsbuch Archaeologie: Fibeln, Munich, 2012 for discussion. 159 grams, 18cm (7"). Property of a European gentleman; formerly in a German private collection formed in the 1950-1970s. The brooch is formed as a plate brooch with applied panel to the reverse, corrugations and integral pin, but its waisted profile replicates the head- and footplate format of a typical bow brooch. [No Reserve] Fine condition, usage wear.
