古人制角石砚，多制为平板，一种取其直角平面，如牛角；一种截其圆形平面，如太极。此砚是典型的直角平面震旦角砚，极其难得。震旦角石， 又称“中华角石”， 因其外型如同宝塔一样，所以还有宝塔石、直角石、竹笋石、太极石、塔 影石之称。该石为海生无脊椎软体动物化石，隶属于头足纲塔飞角石目、喇叭角石科、震旦角石属。 古人认为震旦角石能够辟邪、聚财和使家族节节高而成为镇宅之宝。铭文：乙酉春嘉平月雨生汤怡汾。
