Carved as British Army officer, mustache, pith helmet cover.A hand carved Meerschaum pipe bowl, carved as the head and shoulders of a 19th century British Army officer with "mutton chop" mustaches, and with a separate carved pith helmet cover, which connects with original fitted cork. Meerschaum (German, "sea foam") is made from the mineral sepiolite. Soft, raw meerschaum is carved into elaborate figural and floral motifs. Amber decorations in the shape of buttons, shoulder epaulet and helmet badge device. Amber stem. Felt lined hard case with brass clasp.
