Oil on wood panel, with affixed brass name plate PORBUS.A portrait of a man wearing late Renaissance doublet, color ruff, and hat. Latin motto scrolls around border of painting, including a possible date of 1649. Brass plate affixed to front of frame PORBUS. Attributed to Frans Pourbus the younger (1569 1622), Flemish painter for many highly influential people of the period, including the Spanish Regents of the Netherlands, and Marie de' Medici, Queen of France. His works are in the Royal Collection, the Louvre, the Prado, the Rijksmuseum, the Metropolitan Museum of Art and many other collections.
