Bärenpetschaft. 1899 (Entwurf). Bronze, braun patiniert. 12,3 x 6,3 x 3cm. Signiert und datiert auf dem Pfosten oben: A Gaul 99. In Marmorsockel (4 x 11,5 x 11,5cm).

Die Unterseite des Pfostens ist ein Siegellack-Stempel.

Dem Werk liegt ein Gutachten von Ulrich Gronert, Berlin, vom 05. August 2008 in Kopie bei. Darin spricht Ulrich Gronert von einem "alten, zu Lebzeiten Gauls ausgeführten Guss." Aufgrund des Nachlassstempels müsste es sich allerdings um einen posthumen Guss handeln, jedoch wohl um einen sehr frühen Nachlassguss. Der Guss ist besonders schön und aufwändig gearbeitet. Eine Besonderheit stellt auch der Sockel dar.

The bottom of the post is a Siegellack-stamp.

Enclosed is a copy of a certificate by Ulrich Gronert, Berlin, of August 5th 2008. In it Ulrich Gronert speaks of an "old cast, made during Gaul's lifetime." Due to the estate stamp, however, this should be a cast made after the artist's death, presumably a very early cast after the artist's death at that. The cast is particularly beautiful and elaborate. The base, too, is unique.
