TWO CHINESE SWATOW WARE UNDERGLAZE SLIP PAINTED SEMI GLAZED PLANTER SAUCERS, IN THE MING DYNASTY (1368-1644) TASTE, the largest example with blue/black underglaze slip painted decoration of plants growing from woven baskets interspersed by brushy curls, centering an unglazed ring surrounding a central brushwork character encircled by a blue ring, verso the thick greyish glaze decorated with multiple rings, raised on an unglazed foot, diameter: 11.375"; the smaller example with brushy tendrils surrounding the interior bowl edge, with repeating unglazed central motif, diameter: 9.875". Condition: The largest with some minor glaze cracks, both with kiln bursts, minor losses, darkened iron red spots, typical of pieces from the period, but overall in fair to good condition, wear commensurate with age.
