以黄花梨为材，内部掏空为笔筒，耗料之多，如此体型硕大者实为难得。黄花梨生长十分缓慢，虽经百年仍粗不盈握。直径较的笔筒，则需要生长数百年的黄花梨树木的芯材才能做成。平口宽沿，璧形底，内壁规整光润，外壁雕刻松树，凉亭岩石等纹样。整体纹理如云霞变幻，将黄花梨木纹之瑰丽表现得淋漓尽致。造型风格凝重古朴，且通体牛毛纹纤柔美观，令人遐想，包浆润泽，呈相温和含蓄，品相完美，当为清初文人雅士文房陈设之佳器。
