Ca.900- 1100 AD. A fabulous Viking bronze cast penannular brooch (fibulae) with snake body decoration, This style incorporates the penannular style and enlarges the terminals, expanding them into long, isosceles triangle-shaped plates with their second longest faces lying against each other. Two have loops projecting from their sides at regular intervals, and each has a pin wrapped around its ring. The loops would have been used to attach decorative chains which would have had dangling beads at their ends. Good Condition; H:55mm/W:44mm; 16gr; Provenance: Private London collection, formed in the 1990s on the UK and European art market. All Items sold by Pax Romana Auctions come with professional Certificate of Authenticity.
