A figural mosaic fragment depicting the left side of a female(?) face with delineated brow, nose, lips, brown eyes, part of the shoulder and blue and green radiating strands (fastening cords for a garment or diadem?); mounted in a modern ceramic matrix. 927 grams, 21 x 18.5cm (8 1/4 x 7 1/4"). From the Wilkinson collection, Nottinghamshire, formed since 1985; previously in the Paul Chateleine family collection, by descent from his father.
