10th-11th century AD. A silver ribbed finger-ring of Lehtosalo-Hilander's Type III; D-section central rib, decorated to the flanges with punched tremello-style (zigzag) linear bands in a lozenge pattern; the shank a continuation of the central rib extending to form a thin rod at each end which runs back round the finger to create a three-band effect. Cf. Lehtosalo-Hilander, P-L., Luistari (Finland), A History of Weapons and Ornaments, Helsinki, 2000, p.123-4. 5.98 grams, 21.69mm overall, 18.74mm internal diameter (approximate size British R, USA 8 1/2, Europe 18 3/4, Japan 18) (3/4").
