A silver-gilt plate brooch comprising a lozengiform flat plate with chip carved ornamentation in the form of Insular Style geometric knotwork within a beaded border; one end developing into circular-section wire which is formed into a loop catch, pin absent. Cf. the set of pins from the River Witham at Fiskerton with lozengiform connecting plates in Webster, L. & Backhouse, J. The Making of England. Anglo-Saxon Art and Culture AD 600-900, London, 1991, p.227. 1.25 grams, 32mm (1 1/4"). From an old English collection formed in the 1990s.
