Description
Translation provided by Youdao
11th-12th century AD. A flat-section silver hoop with lozenge detailing to the shoulders, discoid bezel with incised border and double cross moline flanked by a crescent moon and star. 1.5 grams, 20.61mm overall, 18.42mm internal diameter (approximate size British Q 1/2, USA 8 1/4, Europe 18.12, Japan 17) (3/4"). From a private collection; formed 1965-1975. The moon and star flanking the cross may be a reference to the Gospel tradition (Matthew and Mark) that the sky darkened when Jesus was on the cross, i.e.that there was a solar eclipse. [No Reserve]
