A large compass and gimbal in a sturdy wooden carrying case with leather strap and closure hooks; the lid with card instructions for the 'Chetwynd Small Card Compass'; the compass gimbal-mounted in its case with sighting screen and magnifying lens, marked 'Chetwynd & Clark's patent No. 25965/06' and 'Dent & Co. & Johnson Ltd, Makers London'. 11.2 kg, 28 x 28 x 21cm (11 x 11 x 8 1/4").
