The vase is decorated with shaped panels enclosing birds and flowers growing from rocks, all surrounded by flower scrolls executed in pencil style. The shoulder and foot are encircled by a lappet band enclosing peonies, and the neck with a band of chrysanthemum. The cover is similarly decorated and is surmounted by a lotus bud finial.
