‡Asiru Olantunde, 1918 - 1993 Osogbo, Nigeria Oshun Festival and Egungun Masquerade, repoussé aluminium panel, signed ASIRU OLANTUNDE, OSOGBO, 90cm x 62cm. Asiru Olantunde was from a family of blacksmiths, who was prevented from working due to an illness. He started making jewellery and then discovered the hammering of copper and aluminium panels, creating scenes of Nigerian life, animals and Biblical stories, filling in gaps with decorative triangles and hemispheres.
