A George III silver pair cased "Doctor's" verge pocket watch by James Jones of London, No. 14863, the cream enamel dial with small inner dial with Roman numerals and with gold hands and gold sweep seconds hand, the outer dial with Arabic numerals divided into 1/4 of a second, to the verge escapement with fusee and stop lever on contrate wheel, Tompion type index with silver regulating dial with Arabic numerals, secured in subsidiary plate finely engraved with a hand and leaf scroll ornament, finely pierced and engraved cock decorated wtih an urn motif and plain cylindrical pillars, contained in plain silver case, 60mm diameter (gross weight 135 grammes), hallmarked London 1799 and with case maker's mark "W.L." (possibly William Linsey, 2 Bridgewater Gardens, London) Note: Several makers of the same name were about this date, but probably James Jones 1795-1815, of 65 Banner Street, Bunhill Row, London, is most likely Provenance: The John Moon Collection of Pocket Watches
