Mid 19th century Robert Hennell III English silver lidded trophy. Inscribed, "Won By H.H. The Maharani of Cooch Behar's Arab Pony "Brick? Jack" In Record Time Trained By P.J. Firth Ridden by Townsend", and "Poona Races 1919 Governors Cup Presented By H.E. Sir George Llod KCSI, D.S.O. Governor of Bombay". With London city stamps, duty mark of Queen Victoria (1838-1890), maker's mark of RH representing Robert Hennell III, and date letter of 1863 to multiple places on body of vessel, handles, and lid; well matched base of finial with London city marks, maker's mark of Holland, Aldwinckle & Slater (Thomas Alfred Slater, Walter Brindsley Slater & Henry Arthur Holland), and date letter of 1902. Decorated with beautiful floral repousse work against a mottled ground; gold wash to interior of vessel and lid. Total of approx. 100.01 troy oz. From a Rye, NY collection.
