Mainly 1st millennium BC. A mixed group of carved amulets comprising: an alabaster lozengiform bead with concentric ring ornament; a pelta-shaped haematite pendant with running boar to one face and three characters to the other; a carnelian ox-head; a pierced black agate bead; a limestone bird-head with inlaid eye; a square-section tubular haematite bead; an agate ox bead with sockets to the flanks to accept inlay; an agate pendant of a kneeling ram(?"). 37 grams total, 11-28mm (1/2 - 1"). Property of a Cambridgeshire lady; formerly in the Igor Karmiloff collection (1925-2016), UN economist and author of Flashbacks, Icons of Impermanence, Bloomington, 2009; acquired in the 1950s-early 1990s.
