Later 3rd millennium BC. A mixed group of bronze pin-seals, each with tapering shank and decorative head; including two accompanied by a typed and signed note by W.G. Lambert, late Professor of Assyriology, University of Birmingham, 1970-1993, which states: (V-604) 'Bronze Pin with Pin-head Seal. Overall length: 154mm. Head: 20 x 19 mm. This has a straight spike and a disc-like head in the form of a rosette with nine petals around a central circle, so that the outer edge is scalloped. This comes from west central Asia and dates to c. 2300-2000 B.C. It is in good condition, though covered with incrustation, which could be removed. It probably served to fasten garments, and the head could serve as a seal.'; (V-158) 'Ancient Bronze Pin with Seal. 101 mm.long 25 x 25 mm. head. The shank thins from head to tip, which is now missing. The head is a thick round disc with seal design. This is a rosette with central circle, larger petals (8 in number) branching off from the circle, and smaller petals appear between the extremities of the larger. The outer rim is notched. This comes from west central Asia and dates to c. 2300-2000 B.C. It is covered with incrustation, which could be removed. The metal appears to be sound.' 203 grams total, 10-17.5cm (4 - 7"). The Signo collection, the property of a West London businessman, formed in the late 1980s-early 1990s; collection numbers V-158, V-604, Y-70, and three others, academically researched and catalogued by the late Professor Lambert in the early 1990s.
