Mid 17th-early 13th century BC. A lapis lazuli cylinder seal with winged stag, trampling on a gazelle, leaping to another lying winged stag; a pellet in front of its chest, mouth and behind its antlers; between the two deer protrude the long straight horns of the fallen gazelle, 'Horror vacui'. 5.37 grams, 27mm (1"). From a private collection of seals and amulets, the property of a Canadian gentleman living in London; from his father's collection formed in the late 1960s to 1980s. Accompanied by a museum-quality impression.
