Mid to late 2nd century AD. (Antoninus Pius, Marcus Aurelius or Commodus), Carrhae mint, Mesopotamia. Obv: legend obscure, laureate, draped and cuirassed bust right. Rev: AYR KARRHNWN or similar legend with crescent surmounted by crab. Munich 2; RPC 9575 (temp."). Of the two examples of this coin published to date (this is the third), none have had an obverse legend clear enough to identify the emperor with certainty. 1.52 grams, 13mm. Property of a London gentleman.
