玉牛以和田白玉圆雕而成，玉质细腻，光泽温润，器身带有丝缕红沁。整体雕琢卧牛造型，牛侧首而望，四足蜷卧，背脊遒劲、写实传神，给人以栩栩如生之感。康熙《济南府志·岁时》记载：" 凡立春前一日，官府率士民，具春牛、芒神，迎春于东郊。故而此类玉牛，有迎春驱寒、财源富足的寓意。整体纹饰雕琢细腻传神，造型生动难得，十分适合作为收藏陈设。
