CIRCULAR CASE IN PARTITIONED ENAMELS ON BRONZE
China, Qing Dynasty, Probably from the Jiaqing period
Flat bottom. Opens to a removable top lid. Turquoise blue enamel on the inside. Golden on the lip and underneath. Decoration in compartmentalized enamels on a dark blue background showing hinds / deer, cranes and longevity mushrooms / amadouviers / lingzhi (some small jumps, deformation of the inner lip).
H: 4 cm - D: 9.3 cm
Approximate weight: 371 grams
Note: The deer and crane embody longevity. Thus, the former is reputed to be the only one able to find the longevity fungus / amadouvier / lingzhi in the forest; the latter, for its part, is the vehicle of the immortals.
