Original W. Bruford cased movement with hourly chime.Gilded and glazed tower case stamped with DOULTON LAMBETH rosette and date-stamped 1886, along with several hand scribed marks. The case itself is splendidly decorated in a unique (particularly for 1886 Lambeth) mosaic-tile styled motif, and splendidly gilded. The movement, a deeply set key-wind with counted hour chimes, adjustable pendulum, gold toned rims, and heavy glass door also features a fine wire mesh over the back swing cover, to allow the chimes to ring out. Winding key also included. Hour chimes fire, and movement ticks on pendulum swing, but pendulum loses momentum after 1-2 minutes. And exquisite and rare example.
