American School, possibly Southern, miniature watercolor portrait of a gentleman, believed to be a member of the Spotswood-Dandridge family of Virginia. The dark haired, blue-eyed subject, about 30-40 years old, is depicted in a black coat with white tie, in oval gold metal frame with empty glass reserve en verso. Unsigned. 2 7/8" H x 2 3/8" W.
