Provenance: Private Southern collection of Military Art. Biography: Known for his scenic depictions of this war, Wilfried Beauquesne was known for his depictions of war. He attended the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Paris, where he studied under well-known military artists Vernet-Lecomte and Horace Vernet. He exhibited regularly at the annual Paris Salon between 1887 and 1899, as well as throughout Europe (source: Askart).
