A JAPANESE LACQUERWARE WRITING BOX (SUZURIBAKO)
A lacquerware writing box (suzuribako) dark lacquered with rounded corners and decorated in
gold maki-e lacquer with a bamboo grove design. Inside its lid and at the bottom of the writing
box decorated with a design of thatched farmhouses in Kōrin-style. In silver and gold maki-e
lacquer and mother-of-pearl inlay work. It containes a waterdropper and an
inkstone. Signed: Mitsuyoshi (Matsuzawa) Mitsuyoshi Workshop from Takayama, Gifu Province) In a signed
