A carved sandstone statue of Buddha standing, wearing a simple draped sanghati to the hips; the face with serene smile on the broad lips, the earlobes lengthened and with vertical slits, the hair and ushnisha formed of tightly-packed spiral curls; mounted on a custom-made stand. 35.7 kg total, 97cm with stand (38 1/4"). Property of a Cambridgeshire gentleman since 1990; previously in a private collection formed in the 1980s; accompanied by geologic report No. TL005271 by geologic consultant Dr R. L. Bonewitz.
