Chinese Ming Dynasty Period, Jiajing Wucai dragon motif porcelain jar. The porcelain potted in jar shape, having large and thick potted body, sturdily potted in a bulbous body, ovoid belly on middle, gently tapered on shoulder toward prominent, with short neck straight opening lip, and raised on small round foot base. All reserved in hand painting ornamentations, rendered in clean white under glazed ground color which contrast against the Wucai design color. The main belly adorned with snarling huge imperial five claws dragon careening through cumulus ruyi clouds above thrashing Li-shui waves in a vivid tones color dragon squama to chasing flaming pearl amidst flames, vapors, and archaic calligraphy. The shoulder decorated with scrolling interlocking tendril and flowers blooms, the upper mouth rim and the foot base rim festooned with scrolling ruyi clouds. Each section enclosed and banded with double fine rings. Dragon is the symbol of the Emperor, the Son of Heaven, eternity, Yang and Yin, male vigor and fecundity, the Li-shui wave pattern which is known to be the abode of dragons. The Lines of the drawings are clear, the light and dark shades are subtle. The colors are harmonious, elegant and exquisite, the composition is sophisticated, simply a feast for the eye. The clay is very fine, with a brilliant glaze finish that was applied by a meticulous, the shape is uniformly proportioned. The underside unglazed, revealed the pale-creme groundand dark grayish brown spotted firing marks and edge-cut foot rim.
