Chinese Qing Dynasty Period, Qianlong famille jaune glazed porcelain lidded jar. The Chinese porcelain potted in lidded jar shape, having thick and bulbous potted body, oval belly, gently tapered on short neck toward opening mouth prominent, with flaring opening lip, with helmet dome lid with finial bud, and raised on small round foot base. All reserved hand painted ornamentations are rendered in deep blue under glazed base color which contrast against the famille jaune design color. Famille Jaune meaning the "yellow family". This is a variant of the famille verte enamel palette in which the ground is covered with yellow enamel. The main belly and the dome lid adorned with snarling huge imperial five claws dragon careening through cumulus clouds above thrashing Li-shui waves in a yellow color dragon squama to chasing flaming pearl amidst flames and vapors. Enclosed with repeating taotie mask on the shoulder, and scrolling interlocking ruyi clouds on the neck. Each section mark off and enclosed with single thick gilt rings lines. Dragon is the symbol of the Emperor, the Son of Heaven, eternity, Yang and Yin, male vigor and fecundity, the Li-shui wave pattern which is known to be the abode of dragons. The clay is very fine, with a brilliant glaze finish that was applied by a meticulous, the shape is uniformly proportioned.
