A Continental, probably French, paper and bone mounted fan in Historicist taste, circa 1840, the leaf printed and hand tinted with figural scenes in Renaissance style, within silver coloured foliate borders, and with Orientalist figures to the rear; the parcel gilt and openworked sticks and guards descending to a mother-of-pearl head; with indistinct signature to the central reserve; presented in a gilt and ebonised wood case, 37cm high, 59cm wide overall Provenance: Private Collection, Wantage
