23rd-20th century BC. A mixed group of three bifacial seals including one accompanied by a typed and signed note by W.G. Lambert, late Professor of Assyriology, University of Birmingham, 1970-1993, which states: 'Bifacial Stamp Seal of Bronze, 36.5 x 36.5 x 4mm. This is square, with zig-zag edges, but to the seen as a rhomb, pierced through the two opposite corners, one now broken off. The design on the one face shows a curling snake with jaws wide open. the other side shows a pair of heraldic eagles tête bêche occupying opposite corners, and two curling snakes occupying the other two corners, with a small cross in the centre. this comes from west central Asia and dates to c. 2300-2000 B.C. it is a very rare item for bronze, and save for the missing corner it is in good condition, the metal having been cleaned.'; the rest comprising: two of squeezed cylinder shape, one with standing quadruped, possibly a lion, the other with a lion to one side and heraldic eagle to the other; the second with canine to one side, jaw wide open, to the other side quadruped and two facing serpents to the top. 56 grams total, 22-27mm (3/4-1"). The Signo collection, the property of a West London businessman, formed in the late 1980s-early 1990s; T-690, Z-187, V-963, academically researched and catalogued by the late Professor Lambert in the early 1990s.
