His oil paintings mostly represent magnificently dressed children, typically surrounded by beautiful Mexican cultural objects. This particular painting is a portrait of a girl elaborately dressed holding chicks in her uplifted apron. Hens, chicks, and puppies play at her feet. A bird cage hangs nearby, and you can see a nicho with a lit candle above her. Through the window you can see mountains, fields, and hunters.
