Still life with fruit. The artist's painting technique, a delicate stippling, is derived from William Hunt. Through this stippling technique, Clare was able to capture the beauty of nature-giving life and individualize each aspect of the painting. Clare exhibited his first works in 1864 at the Royal Academy and at the Royal Society of British Artists. He continued to exhibit his works until 1874. Two of Clare's sons, Oliver and Vincent, were also artists and became quite famous for their still life and flower paintings. Overall size: 13 1/2 x 11 3/4 in Sight size: 8 1/2 x 6 1/2
