A skilfully knapped bifacial handaxe tapering from a thick convex butt to a fine point; in grey flint with a typical downland white patina showing 'rust' marks to high points and small area of original cortex at butt. Cf. Evans, Sir J., The Ancient Stone Implements, Weapons and Ornaments of Great Britain, London, 2nd edition, 1897, figure 433, for an example of similar size and form.
