The original title "Nouvelles Recherches sur la resistance de l'air et l'aviation" translates to "New Investigations on air resistance and the flight carried out in the laboratory from Gustave Eiffel". However, this is the german edition, so it's "Neue Untersuchungen uber luftwiderstand und den flug ausgefuhrt im laboratorium in auteuil von Eiffel" ( 1914, publisher not stated); 4to original green cloth boards (Volume 1) with bookplate of Edmund Rumpler, the first aircraft manufacturer in Germany. The plate itself, with vibrant green and gold details featuring Icarus, a truly fitting icon for Rumpler. An item belonging to him is quite rare, as it is believed that his records were destroyed by the Nazis in or around 1940.
