A pair of Chinese, cloisonne, gilt-bronze baluster vases; - the finely tapered baluster body rising from a tall splayed foot, the exterior brightly decorated against a black diapered ground with stylised lotus flowers borne on leafy tendrils, all between ruyi band at the neck, the foot encircled by a continuous sea wave band alternating with floral sprays above a sea wave border, the domed cover similarly decorated and surmounted by a bronze teardrop finial. - the finely tapered baluster body supported on a slightly splayed foot and rising to wide shoulders, brightly enamelled around the globular body with large lotus flower-heads encircled by floral strapwork and leafy tendrils, with a deep-red bird perched on a branch, all reserved on a yellow ground between lingzhi bands at the base and a ruyi collar at the shoulder, the straight elegant neck decorated with a double gilted sea wave band, the cover is similarly decorated with a gilt-bronze tear drop finial, all supported on a spreading foot. H: 12 3/16" (31cm) H: 14 1/8" (36cm) Condition: Both in good condition with visible scratches at the gilted neck and foot.
